pileated31 Incredibly powerful performance that should certainly entice others to join the Community! Would love to see the post performance video of "Spiral of Strength" (favorite track) as a download.

rikm Another excellent livestream recording from Steve Roach, this time celebrating the release of his latest album "Tomorrow".

This set follows in a similar vein of optimism and hope as "Tomorrow", with a similar sense of possibility and opportunity that exists on the horizon. An excellent performance that fully demonstrates the true artistry of Steve Roach...

about

Greetings Exclusive friends. Here is the complete 3rd Livestream concert from Saturday Oct 24 2020. The energy that was building to this concert and the release of the Tomorrow album was unique at a time like no other.

Knowing it will be most likely archived at YouTube well beyond my years here, the preparation was as intense and all consuming as any concert I have prepped for in the past. New parts were being composed, sections added and the set was changing right up to 5 mins before starting.
The long form opening piece, a shimmering floating meditation on tranquility, grace and light, was composed and shaped over a few weeks time leading up to the October 24 concert which was the day after the Tomorrow release. This opening track could easily have been a part of the Tomorrow album. When performing in the Timeroom for these livestreams, I am feeling the global audience with me as it unfolds and at the same time the live audience is collaborator Serena Gabriel who is filming the entire performance though her rarefied perception as a musician, artist and performer. Her dedication to document these streaming Timeroom concerts can’t be acknowledged enough.

What you are hearing and seeing in this set, and in the previous two Livestreams, is as intimate and personal as you will ever experience my live mode of spontaneously creating and performing. The fusion of a myriad of techniques developed over the years are brought all together here. On the edge sculpting on hardware instruments, a multitude of modular synths, sequencers and drum machines that are all clocked together in real time, merge with composed synth orchestrations and live midi recording and looping. The constant live mixing of complex multi layered trace elements is also augmented with Ableton Live source infusions. Another vital layer that was included in the Sept set is the acoustic blend of the didgeridoo, voice, ocarinas and ambient-organic percussion. The acoustic instruments all add a quality of chance, air and living atmosphere into the mix.

I am constantly moving between the roles of performer, composer, deep listener, studio and live sound mix engineer, improviser, conductor and at times what feels like an air traffic controller as I direct half a dozen living sonic events in the space surrounding me. The holographic quality of listening I have developed over the years is essential when creating in real time. In creating these sound journeys I feel like a conduit of pure emotion that is fueled with a sense of being incredibly alive “inside” the music. The priority is always about manifesting this sonic hologram through whatever it takes by way of this myriad of seemingly disparate combinations of hands on technologies. Through the years of immersing in this process, the instruments disappear when the magic of the moment takes over. I aspire to have this transmission felt by the listener to the point at which the fascination of the instruments or how the music is being created fades away and what remains is the realm that is revealed though the power of sound presented in this way.
