David Kellett A wonderful piece. I could feel the emotional charge in the music. It must have been something with the PA you describe. I did find the shouting and “woo hooing” from the crowd rather jarring though. For me the shouting broke the solemnity of the music a bit.

This month's Exclusive release is the recording of my performance for the closing ceremony at the All Souls Procession on November 3, 2019.

100,000 people were gathered in a vast outdoor area near downtown Tucson where the procession ended and the closing ceremony occurred.

The set began with the first piece from Vine, Bark and Spore, my album with long time collaborator the late Jorge Reyes. This was especially emotional for me to bring his presence into the opening invocation for this Day of Dead ceremony.

Towards the end you can visualize the large flaming, intricately patterned spherical urn filled with the names of the deceased loved ones being drawn up into the sky by way of a massive crane while I am performing a Circular Ceremony in support of the moment.

The experience of playing in this setting, looking into the sea of people in the dark of night all brought together in the honoring of life and death was life changing… feeling all this, along with the the sound and music delivered through a massive sound system suspended by 2 cranes with the volume and bass energy you could hear a mile away, will be with me till the end of my time.
